The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Nepal 2023 marked a transformative national gathering of young climate leaders under the powerful theme “Vision to Action.” The event united 100 passionate youth from across Nepal, creating an inclusive and energetic platform for dialogue, collaboration, and solution-building. Organized collaboratively by 11 organizations in partnership with Youth Action for Sustainable and Eco Nepal (YASEN), the two-day conference demonstrated the strength of collective youth action in advancing climate justice and sustainable development

The program featured interactive workshops, expert-led panel discussions, and group sessions, enabling participants to explore urgent issues such as Loss and Damage, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Climate Finance, and Local Resilience. These sessions emphasized lived experiences and youth perspectives, ensuring that voices from diverse regions and communities were at the forefront of the conversation. Beyond knowledge sharing, the conference fostered network-building and collaborative problem-solving, equipping young participants with the skills and confidence to take climate action at multiple levels.

A key achievement of LCOY Nepal 2023 was the drafting of a comprehensive Youth Statement Paper, capturing the insights, priorities, and demands of Nepali youth. Submitted as an official input to the UNFCCC process through YOUNGO, this document serves to influence both national climate policy and international climate negotiations. It stands as a testament to the determination of Nepalese youth to not only envision but also actively shape a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
